Church Craft Fair

My Church is trying to break away from the old style Church Fete, so decided to try a Craft Fair. Here are some of the things I made to donate to it, I am pleased to say everything I made sold and helped them raise an amazing £1300.....Fabulous

My first attempt at decorating candles and I had a ball with them, they were so easy to do.

Snowman soup

Trick or Treat bags

Assorted Calendars

Dressed Dolls

Baby Aran knit sets

So LUCKY to have friends like you !!!!!!!!

I always knew that I had the best friends anyone could ever want, however after being diagnosed with Breast Cancer, they suddenly became not just good friends, but, marvelous, super, supportive friends. No matter where I am, what tests I am going through or even when I am relaxing at home...I am so aware of the prayers, support and the tremendous wave of love I feel from these amazing women that I am so proud to call my friends.

I just wanted to post a pic of some of the cards and gifts that I have received not just from friends, but from people I know on a professional level through work or Girls Brigade. It is so encouraging to know that so many people wish only the best for you.

Gift Bag

I have loads of paper bags, supposedly for paperbag books, however I have never made one. So I decided to try gift bags, this is my first one, it is also my first attemp at colouring a stamped image....so I am quite pleased with it. I enjoyed making them...or perhaps I just enjoyed doing something crafty again....either way, I am going to make some more, will upload pics when they are done.

Bad Blogger

Well here we are at the last day of August and I have not posted anything here for ages, not that I have not been busy, because I have. I hope to have some things to share here very soon, I really must make more of an effort.

~Tagged by Sarah~

What was happening 10 years ago: Ten years ago, I had two children under 5 at home and was preparing for my DD to begin primary school. I had just agreed to join Girls Brigade...now how a simple decision can make such a huge change in your life:lol:
5 things to do today: Go to the gym, pay some cheques into the bank, food shopping, tons of housework and I want to make a special get well card for my big sis, who has been unwell for a while and the doc has only now realised she has had pnuemonia!!!!
Snacks I like: Jelly bean company Jelly beans, Chocolate, obviously LOL - especially Mint Aeros, Minstrels and Revels hmmmm and nachos and and and and I could go on for ever:lol
What would I do if I was a millionaire: Oh if I was a millionaire, I would buy a bigger house, somewhere where I could see the sea, but not in a coastal resort and it would have a designated craft room with big sunshine windows overlooking the beach and the sea. I would ensure my families mortgages were paid off and hopefully not let it change me
Places I have lived: I was born in Glasgow and then moved to Whitburn, however I worked in Devon for a while so had accomodation there..but I will always belong to Glasgow...just like the song says:lol:

I tag Tracie, Carolm, Kate T, Stacey and Amanda

Our Tara

This is a layout I have been wanting to do for a while, this was my mums little dog Tara. She is an adorable old bundle of love, she is the most pleasant natured little dog. I took this pic for one of the challenges in the last cyber crop on UKS. Its not the best pic, the colours are brighter IRL.

Scrapping at Last

I finally found some time today to do some scrapping, this is a DLO of my DS and his friends at their recent primary school prom. It is scrary how quick my wonderful baby boy is growing up, but I am also very proud of the young man I can see emerging from this wonderful young boy.

Finished Gala Day Decorations

Thought I would show you what I have been up to for the past 4 weeks, my DS was chosen as a Bodyguard in our local gala day pageant, so of course that meant decorating the house. DS had a great time and was really happy with his castle.

Recent LO's

I have been up to my butt in Gala day decorations, but decided to give myself a break and do a couple of LO's, one was for a challenge on UKS and the other was me trying to make a start on my DS's prom pics. Hoping now that the gala day is out of the way I can make a start on some scrapping and also get to play with some of the many stamps I have been buying.

Dottee Doll Swap

I am taking part in a Dottee Doll swap, these funny little dolls measure around 2" or 3" and are great fun to make....kind of like my own ones, so just need to hope I like the two I get back:lol: I am sure I will...or I may need to make myself another two. They are for nothing in particular, I just wanted them to hang in my craft room.

These are my two...hope who ever gets them likes them.

Time in a bottle

"If I could save time in a bottle"

Goodness how good would that be, especially at the moment. I just never seem to have enough time in a day. I cant believe it is over a month since I posted here...I have been so busy as it is the wind down for girls brigade and gala season here. Gala season wont mean much to those of you who dont live here in West Lothian, but to me it means work, work and more work..for not only do GB take part in events, but my Darling son is one of the Gala Queens bodyguards..which means the house has to be decorated. so that is what I have been doing, we are putting a castle on the front of our house, but as usual working on it is dependant on weather and grabbing some free time between other gala activities..but not to worry, we will get there in the end.

Below is a pic of me working on putting in the details, which will now need to be painted in..

Knitting to save childrens lives

I was asked by a friend to knit a hat to help save the life of a baby in Tibet - I wondered what she was on about, until she explained that Save the Children, was asking people to knit a hat to help prevent a child dying from hypothermia. Well it had been a while since I had knitted anything~which was strange because when my kids where little I knitted for them all the time~anyway I sat down one night while watching tv and knitted a little hat and that was me hooked, so I knitted another and then another...they only take about an hour of your time...so please if you can spare an hour or two....knit a hat, just think for every hat you knit you save a childs life...what an amazing feeling knowing something as simple can have such an amazing affect on a families life. Go on knit a hat http://www.savethechildren.org.uk/en/5072.htm The pattern and information can be found here.
Here is a pic of some of the hats that are ready to be posted off.

Nothing to do with crafts

I have been away this weekend, I left on Saturday morning and returned Sunday night. I was at a Girls Brigade Training weekend at Scottish Churches House in Dunblane. Churches house is a row of old cottages that were to be demolished, however the Church bought them over and restored them in the early 1960's, they are the strangest thing ever, it is like being in a maze, there are so many different doors, there are staircases all over the place and you can enter the first cottage and leave at the last....but the thing that had the most effect on me was the lack of tv's, computer and all electronic equipment. The whole atmosphere was one of complete serenity, which is amazing in a town with such a tragic history. Before leaving on Sunday we had a service in the old chapel at the rear of the building, it was an amazing experience, the chapel dates back to the year 1200 and it is an amazing feeling inside it.

I have attach a couple of pictures, the first is Churches House and yes it is all the houses you see in the picture...and the others are the exterior and interior of the old chapel

Dressing Dolls

Had a bit of a blast from the past tonight, as part of a Cyber Crop on Uk Scrappers, we were told to do a dressing doll of a famous person. This automatically took me back to my childhood, in the Twinkle magazine, you always got a dressing doll to cut out and play with. Now I liked dressing dolls, my sister on the other hand loved dressing dolls, she had hundreds and they all had names. Even to this day she talks about how devastated she was when as a young adult, she discovered my father had thrown them away.

But to get back to the dressing doll of a famous person, I decided to go for Clark Gable as Rhett Butler from "Gone with the wind", once I had done him, I thought he seemed kind of sad on his own, so I decided to bring along Vivien Leigh, as we all know she was the one he really loved.... I could not however decide on a dress for her, so I chose 3....I just love the dark one.

If you or perhaps your kids are into dressing dolls, you should check out this site...the lady has tons of them, including up to date characters.

Cross in my pocket

This is a picture of the little gifts they girls from my Girls Brigade company made, they were given to the people who attended our Easter service and those that were left over were given to the pastoral care group to give out to those who are housebound.

Each one contained a printed poem called "I carry a cross in my pocket" which is a lovely way of remembering Jesus as we go about our daily lives.

New Beginnings

I have been a rotten blogger for the last few months, anyone who knows me will understand why! So many things have happened in my life since the start of 2008, hence I have entitled this post new beginnings....it is time I took control of my life once again, so instead of being swept along with events..I am now going to dictate what can and cannot have an impact on my life..

~So to mark the new beginnings I created a new blog header and I am going to make an entry here every day, even if it is only to say Hi!, but this is a craft blog, so I am going to commit to making at least one craft entry a week...hopefully more...

So here is to New Beginnings
